Sunday Prepping

There is definitely a method to my madness. Every Sunday I prepare for my work week in terms of lesson plans, lunches, workouts, and of course, fashion! I could never stand in front of my closet and decide on an outfit at the last minute because as is, I am typically late to everything, and because I have to be to work at 7:20am, I already get up at 5:15am every morning, so this girl is not getting up an earlier!

I always do laundry on Sunday. I clean my house every Saturday morning, so I hardly feel like doing laundry on top of cleaning, and besides, doing laundry on Sunday reminds me of the outfits I have already worn the week before. Listen, I have a handful of staple items that I wear weekly; however, I like to switch things up and come up with new looks each week. I definitely wear the same pieces from week-to-week, but I love coming up with fresh new ways to sport those staple items. You may be thinking, when does she get all of this done? I can assure you that it is never easy, as I have a 21 month old daughter, but I am definitely a mom who capitalizes on nap time! And if it all doesn’t get done then, I do some things after she goes to bed. (Disclaimer: I am very ‘type A,’ so I will find time wherever I can!)

Here are the details for each look!

Monday:

I like to think that this an easy look that could be duplicated with any color blouse and coordinating blazer. I try to consider patterns, and I added this particular blouse to the polka dot blazer so it wouldn’t be so black and white. I love neutrals, but the pop of color really makes this outfit.

Blouse & Pencil Skinny Pants: The Limited (blouse old-similar)

Blazer: Target (clearance-similar)

Booties: DSW

Gold Leaf Bracelet & Bib Necklace: Forever 21 (old)

Tuesday:

I wear this sweater a lot! I have worn several different blouses under it, including a red gingham flannel button-down on Valentine’s Day, and it always looks so cute! I don’t care about matching the somewhat coral colored text to things; I like pairing it with other colors that' go.' I am not a fan of things being matchy-matchy.

Love Sweater: Old Navy (old-similar)

Polka Dot Blouse: The Limited (old-similar)

Black Pencil Skirt: Target

Boots: Dillard’s (old)

Gold Chain Bib Necklace: Forever 21 (old-similar)

Earrings: The Limited (old-similar)

Wednesday:

I actually have an interview this Wednesday (it’s my second-fingers crossed!), but with that said, I try to step –up my dressiness, if you will, at least one day a week. I will probably throw on my black blazer from The Limited, as temps have been all over the place-hello, Midwest, and because my classroom tends to be cold. I am obsessed with this particular statement necklace and bracelet and wear them both all the time!

Dress: The Limited

Black Suede Pumps: DSW (old-similar)

Statement Necklace & matching Bracelet: Express (similar)

Thursday:

This is really my idea of an easy way to dress up for work but still feel casual. This dress is more comfortable than most pants I have, and the booties are a new fave of mine (I bought them a week ago on clearance at Target)! They are SO comfortable! You could also throw a jean jacket on over this and I think it would look just as cute. I like the extra bit of orange, however, to bring out those cute seahorses on the dress!

Dress: Target (old-similar)

Cardigan: The Limited (old-similar)

Bubble Necklace: (old-but you can find them anywhere!)

Earrings: Francesca’s (old)

Booties: Target (similar)

Friday:

Okay, just so you know I’m not crazy; I do not wear heels to work every day! Us teachers do way too much standing, so flats are always cute and really still dress up this outfit because the pants are an ankle pant. I love the length of the blouse and since it’s black, white, and grey, I added the magenta pant to create a pop of color and spice things up once again, and to avoid the matchy-matchy look a black pant would give this outfit. BUT, if you had a cute colored flat or heel, then black pants would be amaze!

Blouse: Target (oldish-similar)

Magenta Pencil Pants: The Limited (old-similar)

Black Kenneth Cole Flats: DSW (old-similar)

Cuff Bracelet (it says Lola-my daughter’s name-& is my FAVE accessory!): Rustic Cuff

Hopefully, I have given you some outfit inspiration for this upcoming work week! Comment with questions! Happy styling!

XOXO,

Andrea

Birchbox Loves (December-March)

Every month I do a little happy dance when my Birchbox arrives in the mail. Seriously, if you are as addicted to products as I am, then subscribing to Birchbox should be a no-brainer. It’s amazing, and I have yet to be disappointed. I put together a few of my favorite products from the last four months. Initially, when I started receiving my Birchbox, I thought I would blog about each month’s box. I actually rather prefer picking my favorites and posting about a few products, rather than speaking about each box individually (for the record, I typically do not use everything in each month’s box). With that said, here are my favorite products from boxes December-March.
*Note: I am not a spokesperson for Birchbox.*

December Faves:

This perfume smells awesome! If you are a lover of one of my faves, Viva la Juicy, then you will really appreciate Hello. It smells similar to Viva la Juicy, as it is fresh and fruity, without being overpowering or too florally. I really am not a lover of floral or musky perfumes, so Hello is really something I think I will purchase down the road.

Okay, so these are really just glorified hair ties, but I LOVE them! Not only are they super cute in terms of the colors and patterns that they come in, but I love the knot detail, and they don’t rip out your hair, and still stay in place and keep your hair back. I think they would work well on most hair thicknesses too (I have fine, medium thickness hair). Gotta try!

January Faves:

I was a bit skeptical of the Nail Rock idea, but it was super easy to apply and lasted much longer than I expected (over a week-huge bonus!). I received a silver nail polish in my box with rocks that really changed color in different light. I opted to use a nail polish color of my own when I applied the rock art, and it turned out so cute! I got so many compliments from my students (stylish teacher points-LOL). I will definitely apply it again. Loving this trend!

February Faves:

This shampoo and conditioner smells amazing! If you are a sucker for great-smelling hair, then you will love this color protecting shampoo/conditioner combination. I tend to have dry hair at times from blow-drying and flat ironing. After using this shampoo/conditioner, my hair was soft and silky, as if I had just used a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner (which is what I always use). I was really surprised that my hair didn’t feel dry or stiff. I am sold on this combo!

March Faves:

I use a crème on my damp, curly locks before I blow-dry straight, and I typically avoid oils because they tend to make my fine hair heavy and greasy, but this oil treatment not only smells amazing (it smells like summer coconut goodness!), it didn’t make my hair heavy or greasy. I used sparingly and I would recommend that if your hair is fine, you do the same, but I really liked the overall look and feel of my hair after using this. And the smell was with me all day long (I love a product that smells good-can you tell?)!

I don’t have much to say about this lotion other than I felt it moisturizes good, and again, smells amazing! Birchbox is really killing it in the fragrance department. I apply body lotion every day, so I am always open to new products. I really love this one and would definitely purchase it in its full-size.

Loft Love

Floral Lace Dress

Flutter Sleeve Dress
Scalloped Yoke Dress
Square Cotton Eyelet Dress

Okay, so I have to admit, I have been away for quite some time! Ugh, excuses aside, I am currently in the midst of a possible career change (from teacher to guidance counselor-still in the throes of the interview process) and recently, my time has been divided as so: child-teaching-test taking-interviewing…blah, blah, blah. BUT, I am back! I certainly haven’t gotten away from my love of fashion (the Oscars were amaze!) and I have had to dress for an interview and a wedding, so clearly, fashion has been a huge part of my life these past few months.
Speaking of weddings, if you look at my blog, you know that I love the Limited, and recently wore a super cute dress (currently, 40% off) from Limited to a wedding I attended a few weeks ago. However, I have to say, in searching for a dress to wear to an upcoming wedding in May, I have found that Loft is really bringing it! I am loving a good pastel these days, and I just thought to kick-start my return to blogging, I would share with you some of my favorite picks from Loft’s dress line. Seriously, I am obsessed with all of these (and just an added bonus-all of these dresses are currently $25 off)! As always, happing styling (and hopefully shopping)!

XOXO,
Andrea
